I used this gun to install about 100 sq feet of Bruce/Armstrong Natural Reflections Oak flooring. It made the install go super smooth with no major issues. Jammed maybe once and it took a few minutes to get a feel for it. Once you get going it is amazing. I highly recommend it.
Worked flawlessly to lay 600sq/ft of 3/8″ solid Brazillian Redwood from BellaWood. Make sure you grab this gun for the hard solid woods as I rented the LHF97125-2 first and it wouldn’t push the 20ga staples all the way through.
The stapler worked ok, but the plastic shoe broke within 5 minutes after I started using it. Sears now has a Craftsman stapler which is made better and costs about 20% less.
It depends on if you are doing real hardwood or an engineered laminate floor. The laminate floors are very easy to do and require only a saw, tape measure and a lot of patience. Real Hardwood requires you to nail it down, knowing the nail pattern and where to place the nails is key to a good looking floor when you are finished. By the way, engineered laminates are more durable and dent and scratch resistance, just because its called HARD wood doesn't mean it won't ding and dent. Good Luck!

If the lower level is underground, has a concrete floor, any possibilty of water infiltration from outside due to weather or contains the plumbing pipes or laundry rooms I would suggest vinyl stick down applied with an extra adhesive (made for vinyl tile to adhere it to concrete better) you don't want to put hardwood or carpeting in an environment that could be subject to water damage or the humidity levels of an underground or basement like atmosphere. Yes I would keep it consistant throughout and maybe just do different wall and trim colors to add atmosphere to each room.

Not a good idea. Professional piercers usually only do industrials [and other ear cartilage piercings] at 14g or 12g. 18g isn't substantial enough and could leave you more susceptible to migration/the cheese-cutter effect, irritation, and a longer healing time.
depends on how handy you are. if you rent a hardwood flooring gun it will be fairly easy for anyone to do. it has a special piece on it to shoot the nails or staples in on a 45 degree angle. its tounge and groove and you just staple on the tounge and lay as you go. boards go perpendicular to the floors joists. red rosin paper under and thats the basics.

Just try and get it through, it might be a bit stressful, but be patient… It might hurt a bit, like pressure wise, but if it stings or feels really painful it might be infected, other then that, it should be fine.

Bamboo flooring is being promoted as being more environmentally friendly than hardwood. From this it looks quite energy, chemical and process intensive as opposed to wood which is mainly just sliced. Bamboo regenerates though and does so in 5 years which hardwood cannot. For the protection of hardwood forests and their dependant wildlife, bamboo might be a way forward – if there is one.

Wood flooring actually varies in price greatly depending on the manufacturer, style and finish of the floor. If you're having it installed I would say you would start out looking in the $6/sf range (probably more in the Northeast where you are).
You can get an engineered wood floor a little cheaper, which baiscally is the same as a wood floor except the hidden portion fo the wood is made of cheaper material and the top is a real wood veneer.

Yes, it will shrink to the size gauge you put in…as if you were to put something larger it would expand…you skin has elastin and collagen it in, which helps it to stretch or shrink…
