Maestro engineered hardwood floor allows you the flexibility of installing over wood or concrete subfloors including basements. Flexible installation options include staple or glue. Wood is made from trees, and trees are still common (there is a moderate amount still left). So, wood isn't so scarce at the time but if we continue to cut down these trees to create paper, wood and other such, we'll be short of trees. By the way, how old are you? You should be able to tell that we aren't that scarce of trees at the moment because trees are almost everyone, except for those that have environments which isn't suitable for plant growth or places were trees and stumps are being cut down/removed like crazy.
First of all, who instructed you to "glue and slide it in"??? A tongue and groove hardwood floor needs to be kick-nailed into place with a special nailing gun.
If the manufacturer's rep arranged to have the floor properly nailed in and it still isn't done right, contact that rep again and tell him that you want it fixed once and for all, even if it means starting from scratch.
You can always take the store, the manufacturer and the installer to court to reclaim your $8K, but that is very time consuming with a ton of paperwork on your part.

I have never heard of this technique – doen't mean that's wrong, but never heard of it. I am going to guess that if you do expose the windows to steam heat for a prolonged period, expect the glazing compound to fail. You didn't say if you planned on re-glazing.
Personally the product Peel-away works fine for removing many layers of paint. Peel-away is expensive, but it works and isn't as messy as regular paint stripper.
If I didn't want to spend the money on a paint stripper, I would next try a heat gun.
Lastly, the only sure way to see of the wood is too wet to paint is to use a moisture meter. Unfortunately, moisture meters are all expensive, which is a damn shame.
