Glue down laminate is obsolete now. They are all what they call ''floating'' floors now. Any major brand will suffice. You may just want to look and see how easy the planks go together before deciding. Some brands have a foam backing with a moisture barrier already glued to the back of them and some require that you buy the foam in a roll that has to be laid down first. Obviously the real cheap stuff is going to feel like walking on cardboard and the pricier stuff will feel like real wood. No laminate is intended for a full bathroom where water/moisture from a tub or shower is present.

5 teaspoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
3 large eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
Confectioners' sugar, for garnish
Strawberry Sauce
6 large mint leaves, cut into chiffonade
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease six 3/4-cup custard cups with 1/2 teaspoon of the butter and place in a large roasting pan.
2. Combine the egg yolks, milk, lemon juice, and zest in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat until frothy, about 2 minutes. Add the remaining 4 1/2 teaspoons of butter, the granulated sugar, the flour, and salt, and beat until smooth.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the yolk mixture, being very careful not to over mix.
4. Divide the batter among the prepared dishes. Pour enough warm water into the roasting pan to come halfway up the sides of the dishes. Bake until puffed and lightly firm to the touch, 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and transfer the ramekins to 6 dessert plates to cool slightly.
5. Sift confectioners' sugar over each pudding cake and top with 1/2 cup of the strawberry sauce. Garnish with the mint and serve warm.

While there are many expensive brands, I found a very nice oak, 3/4 inch thick and baords about 2 1/2 inches wide, that was prefinished at Menard's for $2.50 a squarefoot. We installed them ourselves – VERY EASY – and a year later they still look great and we get compliments all the time.
Your best bet it to shop around at various times a year and find the best deal for you in the style of wood flooring you like best. It does pay off in the long run to shop around during the year as prices fluctuate and discounts help alot when ordering a lot of wood.

I think your small crack will look better than the filler. I had the same problem and spent several dollars on different kinds of fillers none did good job. You will need to start at closest wall and take up and reinstall. The second time around it will not be as difficult for it to snap back together. Easy way would lay small rug over crack.

It might take a bit of elbow grease, but I would do this to keep the hardwood floors:
Remove all the nails. Buy a good quality wood filler close to the color of the wood. Fill the holes, let that dry and lightly sand to make a smooth surface. Watch for the wood filler to crack or crumble. If it does, remove the filler and re-apply. If you are going to refinish the floors, sand any other spots, blending into the existing wood. Prepare floors for re-surfacing as directed on the chosen products for your type of floor finish.
Anything you can do to preserve the floor will be well worth the effort.
